Mission Youth invites proposals under Universities Collaboration Initiative

SRINAGAR, JUNE 26: (KNS)   Mission Youth, J&K, a special youth-centric initiative of Jammu and Kashmir Government has invited proposals under Universities Collaboration Initiative for supporting students and researchers in various fields. The Governing Body of Mission Youth headed by Lt Governor, Sh Manoj Sinha, and having the Chief Secretary, Advisors to Lt Governor and Administrative Secretaries as members has approved a number of schemes for youth ranging from self-employment, skills development to sports and culture.

 

Chief Executive Officer, Mission Youth J&K and Secretary Tribal Affairs, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary informed that the proposal for Universities Collaboration Initiative was approved in the governing body meeting held on 18th June 2021 and the mission youth team has drafted the broader guidelines for various proposed sectors under the initiative to support young students in Universities and Colleges, and providing them an enabling and innovative platform.

 

The broad sectors proposed to be covered for collaboration and support include Organising seminars, workshops and conferences , Publications of Research , Student exchange programme with other universities, IT /ITES related projects , Sports : Competitions / equipment, Entrepreneurship , Skill Development (Courses) , Coaching for competitive examinations , Exposure tours , Internship / Fellowship in specific sectors, Green initiatives , Science and Technology , Individual student support: thesis etc ,Competitions, Online guidance/ Counselling modules and other innovative proposals.

 

Mission Youth has written to all the Vice-Chancellors of J&K Universities to depute/ nominate nodal officers for coordination and authorised to screen and submit proposals to the executive committee for sanction. These include Kashmir University, Jammu University, SKUAST-Jammu, SKUAST-Kashmir, Islamic University, Cluster University, Central University, BGSB University. The proposals from Deemed Universities will also be included in the Universities Collaboration Initiative.

 

OSD Mission Youth, Tabish Saleem has been designated as Nodal Officer to coordinate with universities on the initiative. The approval committee headed by Mission Youth will meet once every month to consider proposals received from Universities and accord approval. J&K Students studying in universities outside the UT can also submit their proposals through respective Deans or Registrars of the universities .The scheme will support both individual and group proposals formulated by students.

 

The scheme is open to students, scholars and researches of all the universities, in age group of 18-35 years and pursuing studies or research in such universities at the time of submitting application. The outcomes of funded proposals will be evaluated and three best projects will be awarded annually. Mission Youth endeavours for constructive engagement of youth in J&K and to provide them required opportunities. The Universities Collaboration Initiative will help to support the students for their research, studies and innovations.(KNS)
