Srinagar, Oct 23 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday welcomed the meeting between Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif and the United States President, Barack Obama in the US in which the two agreed that the vexed Kashmir issue needs to be resolved through a process of dialogue and engagement.
The APHC Chairman said this was a significant development considering the prevailing atmosphere of confrontation and tension in the overall region, particularly in Jammu Kashmir.
He also termed the decision of Pakistan PM of asking the US President to play a mediatory role in the resolution of the vexed Kashmir issue as a positive step.The Mirwaiz expressed hope that for bringing peace and stability in the region and for ending an atmosphere of uncertainty, the United States would play a positive role in resolving Kashmir issue peacefully in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people ,by accelerating the process of dialogue between the two countries.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Mirwaiz, hoped that New Delhi would give up its rigid and intransigent stance over Kashmir and exhibit flexibility in resolving the Kashmir issue while keeping the international situation, regional peace and stability in mind. He urged New Delhi to show seriousness in resolving the long-standing Kashmir issue by initiating a process of dialogue both with Islamabad as well as the Kashmiri leadership. (KNS)
