Srinagar, Feb 02 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday prayed for the immediate recovery of ailing veteran resistance leader Syed Ali Geelani.
The Mirwaiz today visited the Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura where the veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Geelani is admitted and enquired about his health and well being, expressed best wishes for his early recovery.
Geelani, after complaining of pain in his body, was Wednesday night admitted at SKIMS where he is under the supervision of the doctors for the necessary treatment.
Meanwhile, an Hurriyat (M) spokesman while expressing concern over the condition of leaders and workers of various resistance groups, and Kashmiri youth held in various jails of Jammu Kashmir and different Indian states where they are not even provided with basic amenities and necessary medical treatment demanded their immediate release.
The spokesman said the arrest and detention of a large number of resistance leaders and workers of resistance groups was being prolonged in arbitrary cases as a result of which their health condition was getting worsened.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said the political prisoners were not only deprived of the facilities they were entitled to as per the Jail Manual but were not even presented in the court on the day of their hearing and sometimes the dates of their hearing are postponed, thus prolonging their detention.
Strongly condemning the two-hour continuous firing by the soldiers of Indian Army on a residential house of Muhammad Maqbool Sheikh of Mantrigam, Bandipora in north Kashmir on Wednesday night, the Hurriyat (M) spokesman said with these tactics not only were the residents harassed but an atmosphere of fear and terror was created in the entire area.
The spokesman said the government forces were enjoying unbridled powers under Black laws like AFSPA in Kashmir which they were using on the civilian population of Jammu Kashmir. (KNS)
