Srinagar, Aug 16 (KNS): Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the cloudburst tragedies at Kishtwar and Kathua.
In a post on X, Mirwaiz said the Kishtwar cloudburst has taken 65 lives, left more than 100 injured, and many missing, while the Kathua cloudburst also claimed innocent lives.
Terming the incidents as heartbreaking and a test from the Almighty, he extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the recovery of the injured.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Mirwaiz further wrote that in Jammu and Kashmir’s fragile Himalayas, deforestation, road construction, unregulated building, and unchecked tourism disturb nature’s balance, turning rain into ruin.
He said the tragedies are a wake-up call for policymakers to act with foresight. “We must protect nature to protect life".(KNS)
