New Delhi, Oct 10: Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday met Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit and held detailed discussion with him over Kashmir issue and the current political solution in Jammu Kashmir.
Talking to the Mirwaiz, the Pakistan High Commissioner said Islamabad has always initiated a process of dialogue with New Delhi for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Basit told the Hurriyat (M) Chairman that Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif’s four-point agenda for the resolution of Kashmir issue was a step in the direction for the resumption of dialogue process.
However, the Pakistan High Commissioner termed New Delhi’s politics of rigidness and delaying tactics for keeping Kashmir resolution pending as unfortunate.
He told the Mirwaiz that during the Pakistan PM’s upcoming visit to the United States, Mian Nawaz Sharif would raise the Kashmir issue and impress upon the US President, Barack Hussein Obama and other important personalities in the US government to extend their full cooperation and play a role toward the resolution of the Kashmir issue.
Basit told the APHC Chairman that Islamabad was duty bound to play its role in the final settlement of Kashmir issue and believes the participation of Kashmiri leadership while engaging with New Delhi on Kashmir was a must for any positive outcome.
Stressing that Islamabad was putting in concerted efforts in resolving Kashmir issue both at the governmental and diplomatic level, the Pakistan High Commissioner informed the Mirwaiz that Islamabad wants a dignified solution to the Kashmir issue and finding a solution according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir was part of Pakistan’s national policy.
Terming India’s aggression and crackdown on Kashmir’s resistance leadership as unfortunate, Basit said Pakistan government was extremely concerned over the large scale human rights violations in Kashmir and use of aggression, terror, and military might on peaceful protestors.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said Islamabad was keeping the human rights bodies and international community updated about the ongoing situation in Kashmir.
During the meeting, the Mirwaiz informed the Pakistan High Commissioner about the human rights violations carried by the Indian forces, and continuous restrictions on peaceful activities of the resistance leadership.
He expressed his concern over the rise of divisive and communal forces in Jammu and Kashmir and their efforts to polarise the state for their own petty political interests .
Thanking Islamabad for its continued political and diplomatic support for the resolution of Kashmir issue and for extending political, diplomatic and moral support to Kashmiris, the APHC Chairman said for ensuring peace in the region, final settlement of Kashmir as per the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris was the urgent need of the day.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the APHC condemned the use of force by the government forces in Kadipora and other areas of south Kashmir’s Islamabad region.
Condemning the excessive use of force and aggression on peaceful unarmed protestors, damage to civilian properties - both residential and business establishments, beating of locals, and tear gas shelling, he said Zahid Rasool Bhat’s killing at the hands of Hindu fanatics and extremists was an example of shameless dictatorship and fascism.
Condemning the continued arrest of senior Hurriyat leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and damage of his residence by Indian forces, the spokesman said the civil administration had given a free hand to them for carrying attacks on the resistance leadership and the local population and that they indulged in barbaric acts whenever and wherever they want.
