Srinagar, Oct 24 (KNS): Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq was released from Chesh Mashahi Sub Jail and placed under house arrest at his Nageen residence ahead of the visit of a nongovernmental team of politicians and peacemakers coming for parleys to Srinagar.
Authoritative sources told KNS, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was released Monday evening and taken to his Nageen residence where he has been put under house detention.
Sources said the central team headed by former external affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha and among others represented by Congress heavy weight, former minister Jai Ram Ramesh and former Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Wajahat Habibullah will meet Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani and other top separatist leaders.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
A top official on conditions of anonymity told KNS the team will first likely to call on Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani and likely to meet Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq later.
The team will also call on JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik at SKIMS Soura.
It has been learned that other Hurriyat leaders including Yasin Malik are likely to be released shortly to clear the ground for talks between track two team and the separatist leadership.
Hurriyat (M) Media advisor Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam told KNS that Mirwaiz was brought to his Nageen residence but put under house detention. (KNS)
