Mirwaiz hopes for justice in Ganderbal encounter

Srinagar, Apr 3 (KNS): Kashmir's chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday expressed hope that justice would be delivered in the Ganderbal encounter case, asserting that those responsible must be held to account and punished.

Addressing the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta, the Mirwaiz said he hoped "this time justice gets done" in the killing of Raashid Ahmed Mughal at Arhama, Ganderbal.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Stating that the family has claimed Mughal was a part-time computer operator with no militancy links, the cleric said past experiences did not inspire confidence.

However, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordering an inquiry, Mirwaiz said, "Let us hope that this time justice gets done and those responsible are held to account and punished." (KNS)
