Mirwaiz Greets People on Islamic New Year, Prays for Peace

 Srinagar, June 16 (KNS): Kashmir's chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq extended greetings to Muslims and people across the world on the eve of the Islamic New Year 1448 AH and prayed for peace, reconciliation and an end to conflicts worldwide.

 
In a message posted on social media, the Mirwaiz said the beginning of the new Islamic year was an occasion for reflection on the values of faith, patience and hope.
 
He said the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which marks the start of the Islamic calendar, serves as a reminder that perseverance and faith can help overcome difficult challenges.
 
The Mirwaiz said that at a time when different parts of the world were witnessing conflict and division, people should recommit themselves to the principles of justice, compassion, dialogue and mutual respect.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
Praying for global peace, he said he hoped the new year would bring reconciliation and mercy for humanity, resolution of conflicts across the world and unity among Muslims.
 
"May this year bring peace to troubled lands, resolution of conflicts worldwide, unity to the Ummah, and blessings to all humanity," he said.
 
The Islamic New Year, also known as Hijri New Year, marks the beginning of a new lunar year in the Islamic calendar and commemorates the migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Mecca to Medina.(KNS).
