Srinagar, Oct 12 (KNS): Hurriyat (M) Chairman and Muttihida Majlis-e-Amal chief, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said religious personalities like Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA) should be a role model for every Kashmiri.
Speaking at a day-long conference on the role played by Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA) in the transformation of Kashmiri society organised by a non-profit organization, Idarah Mohsini Aalameen International, the Mirwaiz appealed every Kashmiri to carry forward Ameer-e-Kabir’s efforts of spreading Islam and bringing about a societal change in Kashmir.
In a statement to KNS, Mirwaiz said the revolutionary personality of Shah-e-Hamadaan not only invited Kashmiris toward Islam and truth but also helped in the societal and economic transformation of the nation.
He said Shah-e-Hamadan by showing various economic means to the people laid a foundation for making the nation self-sufficient and self-reliant.
However, the Mirwaiz said, of late the artisanship and craftsmanship of Kashmiris like carpet weaving, shawl weaving, Namda (rag) weaving, papier-mâché works, walnut wood carving, and copper engraving, that made Kashmiris self-sufficient over the years, had been doomed due to the neglect toward it.
He said Kashmir’s artisanship and craftsmanship, heritage and culture seem to be living on a ventilator now as if waiting for the last breath.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman said while the government cannot shy away from taking responsibility for the official neglect toward craftsmanship and artisanship, Kashmiris too needed to look inward and study what had gone wrong, spelling doom to these skills of Kashmiris.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said oppressive and communal forces were working overtime at both the regional and international level for tarnishing the image of Islam and appealed people that their nefarious designs needed to be foiled by uniting and keeping aside all sectarian differences.
Mirwaiz said Kashmir is a Muslim-majority region and for harming the religious brotherhood among different sects, sponsored elements sometimes rake up issues of Christian missionaries and sometimes Qadiyanat.
Appealing the managements of Daar-ul-Alooms, Masjids, Khanakahs and shrines, and Ulemas and Khateebs, he said for taking the challenges of anti-religious and anti-social elements head on, they needed to set aside their sectarian differences and spread the real messages of Islam.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman said Kashmiri nation was face-to-face with various challenges both at the political and social level and it was the responsibility of the people to pay attention to both the issues equally.
He singled out Kashmiri youth for playing a vital role to tide over these challenges.
At the end of the conference, Idarah Mohsini Aalameen International presented the Mirwaiz with an award for his contributions in the sphere of religious, political and social sectors and for spreading the message of Islam. (KNS)
