Srinagar, Oct 27 (KNS): Chairman of the Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Dr. Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Tuesday expressed grief and shock over the death of over three hundred people and loss of property worth billions across the two sides of the Line of Control, Pakistan and Afghanistan in the Monday’s devastating earthquake.
The APHC Chairman, who has been placed under house arrest continuously for the past six days at his Nigeen residence in a statement, said Monday’s earthquake reminded people of the October 8, 2005 wobble and the helplessness of the humankind before Allah’s fury.
The Mirwaiz said the quake and other furies of the nature were basically a warning of the Almighty Allah to the humans to take stock of their lives and give up being self-obsessed and caring very little toward the condition of their fellow beings.
He said people should keep such times in mind and remember the hardships humans are subjected to when nature wrecks its havoc in the form of calamities like quakes or floods. It demands to give up selfishness and to work for the betterment of the masses.
The APHC Chairman asked people to seek forgiveness from the Almighty Allah and put in their all out efforts to serve the mankind.
Expressing his heart-felt sympathies with the families who lost their loved ones in the earthquake, he also prayed to the Almighty Allah for the early recovery of the injured.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Mirwaiz said while people were yet to recover from the devastation wrecked by the September 2014 floods, Monday’s quake had shocked them all the more and brought further sadness into their lives as the government had only been issuing statements but failed to do anything practically to rehabilitate them for more than a year now.
The APHC Chairman urged people to follow the Islamic principles and the principles of humanity for staying united and help one another in these times of hardship.
Meanwhile APHC has lauded the people of Kashmir for observing complete shutdown on 27th October. The spokesman of APHC has said that the complete strike by the people has once again brought it to fore that people cannot be occupied by force nor can their urge for freedom be suppressed forever. He said that the strike has amply demonstrated that Kashmir dispute was a stark reality and it is time that Govt. of India shuns its stubbornness and initiates a meaningful dialogue process for the resolution of this long pending dispute.
