Srinagar, Sep 28 (KNS): Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has shot a letter to OIC general secretary Ayad Amin Madani wherein he stressed upon the Islamic countries to play their role in solving the Kashmir “dispute” in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Mirwaiz, who was invited to participate in the OIC Kashmir Contact Group and in the OIC foreign ministers meet in New york from September 27 to October 1 on the eve of the 70th session of the UN General Council was unable to visit New York since he has been issued travel documents by the state.
In a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz while thanking OIC for supporting the Kashmir cause, said at a time when the 70th session of the UN general Assembly was in progress and OIC foreign ministers were scheduled to meet amid the rising tensions between India and Pakistan which has claimed lives of scores of Kashmir in the cross border shellings, the two big international organisation could have played a responsible role in alleviating the hostilities and used their influence to solve the Kashmir dispute for once and all.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman said it was the moral duty of OIC and UN to play their role in soling the Kashmir dispute.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMirwaiz stated that Kashmir dispute was the core issue between India and Pakistan which is a major cause of tension between the two, adding, it was due to this issue that they fought wars and live in constant hostility.
Mirwaiz stated that Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives and property for the right to self determination. He said that Kashmir dispute, recognised by the UN, is being ruled by dint of military and gun, adding, the Kashmiri political aspirations are trampled by the military and their rights were usurped by the state and their troops by force and coercion. As such, Mirwaiz stated that international community and international organisations should come forward to end these atrocities perpetrated against Kashmiris and fulfil their duty.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman also welcomed the recent statement of UN general secretary Ban ki Moon wherein he stated that India and Pakistan should solve their all issues through talks. He stated that Hurriyat has always maintained that all the issues between the two countries, especially the core issue of Kashmir can be solved through meaningful dialogue and with the inclusion of the Kashmiri people.
