In the evening of 31st July, 2015, two militants who were boarding a Tavera vehicle bearing Registration No. JK01Q-8792 fired upon naka party headed by Inspector Mohammad Saleem, SHO P/S Pattan at Mirgund. In this incident, SHO P/S Pattan and 03 other Police personnel were injured. Immediately, after this incident, all the naka points on the roads were activated. One such naka party of Police/Army challenged the fleeing militants and one of the militants jumped into Ferozpur Nallah and got drowned.
According to a statement issued to KNS, Monday in the morning, some civilians of Gulabwari Sumbal spotted a dead body in Ferozpur Nallah.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe Police took the body into the custody and the body was later on identified as of Tariq Ahmad Mir @ Zahid Arif S/o Ghulam-ud-Din Mir R/o Adoora Divisional Commander Hizbul Mujahideen. The said militant was a close associate of Qayoom Najar and an active member of Lashkar-e-Islam militant outfit. The said militant was involved in a number of attacks including the recent Sopore attacks.
The said militant was involved in a number of killings, planting of IEDs and attacks on cellular towers in North Kashmir. A number of FIRs in P/S Pattan, Sopore and Handwara stand registered against the deceased militant. (KNS)
