Jammu, Nov 07 (KNS): Congress President G.A. Mir Sunday led a candle light protest in Samba, in solidarity with the the Ex- servicemen, demanding Complete implementation of OROP.
He said that the Centre Govt. has hoodwinked the Ex-Servicemen of this country and not fulfilled their demand as promised.
Addressing party workers at Samba and ex-Servicemen. He said that the Government attitude has forced Ex-servicemen Shri Ram Kishan Grewal to commit suicide and expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives in firing from Pakistani Sides.
The congress leaders and workers including Ex-Servicemen took out protest march simultaneously in Samba/Vijaypur and Bishnah Towns against the Modi Govt. over the issue of OROP in favour of Ex-Servicemen and the anti democratic attitude adopted by the centre govt. in the wake of protests by the Ex-servicemen leading to the suicide of Shri Ram Kishan Grewal and inhuman treatment and detention of his family members and AICC Vice-President Sh. Rahul Gandhi.
The demonstrators carried play cards denouncing the Modi govt. for its failure to fulfill the promises made to the Ex-servicemen with regard to the OROP and for the ill-treatment to the family of martyr Sh. Grewal who laid down his life for the cause of Ex-Servicemen which shows the total arrogance and insensitiveness on the part of the Centre govt.
Congress today held strong protest demonstrations in Samba/Vijaypur and Bishnah Towns over the issues of implementation of one rank one pension in favour of Ex- servicemen and the border situation in the State seeking safe shelters and other facilities for the border residents.
The demonstrators also expressed grave concern over the situation all along the border and expressed solidarity and tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation.
They express concern over the hardships being faced by the border residents and the lack of adequate facilities in the prevailing situation and the failure of the centre and state Govt.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channelto fulfill the promises made to them during elections especially grant of 5Marlas plot in safer areas and bunkers besides extending benefits of reservation on the pattern of LOC residents and special recruitments for the border youth. The victims of firings in the shape of human causalities and cattle and properties are not being adequately compensated beside lack of proper facilities in camps.
Prominent among those who were present are Prakesh Sharma (District President Samba), Manjit Singh, Subash Baghat, Vinod Mishra, Babbal Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, paramjit singh pamma and others.
The protest demonstrations are part of the series of protests launched all over the districts and border areas in the State.
Candle light protest was also held at Bishnah. The prominent leaders who lead the protests in Bishnah include Mohinder Bradwaj, Ashok Dubey, Ashwani Puri were prominent those who led the march.
Large number of Ex- servicemen and congress workers participated in the protest march and criticized the Modi Govt. for its failure to fulfill the promises made to the ex-Servicemen regarding OROP.
They also criticized state and Centre Govt. for failure to fulfill promises and provide adequate relief and rehabilitation of the border residents. (KNS)
