Mir appeals Govt to disband VDC

Srinagar, Dec 25 (KNS): Chairman of Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN), Ghulam Hassan Mir Friday said that the government should disband the Village Defense Committee (VDC) if not required.
In a tele-statement to KNS, Mir said that while the militancy threat has been reduced, the government is still continuing with VDC resulting in three killings from last week.
“There is no need of the group now and the same should be disbanded at earliest. The VDC’s are attacking one another, which is highly condemnable,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He appealed the state administration to snatch weapons from the VDC’s whose role has been ended so that the weapon won’t be used any more to kill innocents.
A youth leader of National Conference (NC) was allegedly shot dead by a member of VDC on Sunday after the duo had an altercation over distribution of ration in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
On Thursday, a woman and her 4-year-old son were shot dead in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir allegedly by a member of VDC. (KNS)
