Minor hangs self in Bandipora; concerned citizens express worry

Srinagar, Oct 22 (KNS): A 14-year old minor allegedly hanged self at his maternal uncle’s home in Plan area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.
Soon after the minor (name withheld) of Nowpora area of Bandipora hanged himself, he was rushed to district hospital Bandipora by his relatives, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A police official told KNS that the body of the minor will be handed over to his family members for last rites after completion of medico-legal formalities.
He said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further course of investigations taken up.
It is worth to mention that this is the second such incident in the past three weeks as a 12-year old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home on October 2 in Alusa village of the district.
The back to back self hanging in the district has left concerned citizens worried who appealed village heads, religious preachers and community members to keep strict vigil on the action of their wards and don’t let them to fall into the trap of anti-social elements. (KNS)
