Srinagar, Jan 27 (KNS): The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar on Thursday said that two militants including a foreign militant who were trapped in an encounter in Shopian last evening, managed to escape from the spot.

Kumar told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that militants escaped from the spot due to darkness and evacuation of civilians by the forces after encounter in the area broke out.

He also said that during the initial exchange of fire two soldiers received bullet injuries and they were immediately evacuated to a nearby healthcare facility. 

Notably, encounter had broken out in Nowgam Check village of Shopian last evening, following the presence of militants in the area. (KNS)
