Militants behind Zewan attack killed in twin overnight encounters in South Kashmir: IGP

Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNS): The Inspector General of Police on Thursday said that three militants of JeM outfit who were behind the attack on a police bus in Zewan area of Srinagar were killed in overnight encounters in South Kashmir.

IGP told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that three militants were involved in Zewan attack have been identified as Suhail Rather, Mufti Altaf and Pakistani militant Sultan alias Rayees alias Mavia of JeM outfit.

He said that out of three militants, two militants namely Rayees alias Sultan alias Mavia and Mufti Altaf have been killed in Anantnag encounter.

Notably, three policemen were killed and 11 others were injured after militants attacked a police bus in Zewan area of Srinagar on December 13.

Meanwhile, six militants of JeM outfit and an army soldier were killed while two army soldiers and a cop were injured in twin overnight encounters in Anantnag and Kulgam districts. (KNS)
