Police man injured in clashes

Srinagar, Jan 26 (KNS): Clashes erupted in south Kashmir’s Anantnag after a local militant was in a gunfight with security forces in Kokernag area of the district on Tuesday pre-dawn hours.
The slain militant has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Haroo alias Adil, son of Mohammad Amin of Pushwara village in Khanbal, police said.
He was killed in an encounter that broke out at 4 am in Khalihar village of Kokernag area.
Police said that he was affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit, but he had recently switched sides and joined Lashkar-e-Toiba.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
After his body was brought to his village, hundreds of people attended the funeral prayers. Locals said the mourners shouted slogans in favour of Islam and freedom as they carried his body to the graveyard.
Stone pelting erupted in Pushwara, Khanbal in which a police man was injured. (KNS)
