Srinagar, Nov 01 (KNS): A militant was killed in a gunfight that raged between security forces and militants in Bijbehara area of southern Kashmir, police said here on Tuesday evening.
The Kashmir Police zone in a tweet said that one terrorist killed in Bijbehara encounter. Operation going on. "Encounter in Awantipora going on. Further details shall follow," the police said.
Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight (KNS)
