Srinager, July 25(KNS): An unidentified militant was killed after a gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in a Munand area of Yaripora in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday morning.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that the gun battle erupted after a joint team of army, CRPF and Jammu & Kashmir police launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. 

He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, a retaliation of which triggering a gunfight. 

The official said that one unidentified militant has been killed so far while the search operation is still going on (KNS)
