Handwara, Mar 24 (KNS) : Middle school Chiek Audoora Qalamabad in Kupwara's Handwara village lacks portable drinking water facility, students, staff up in arms against Jal Shakhti department. 

 

The students as well as the staff members at Middle School Chiek Audoora Qalamabad in Handwara village Wednesday expressed strong resentment against the Jal Shakti Department Handwara for failing to provide portable drinking water facility in the school premises. 

 

They said that due to non-availability of tap water they were forced to use contaminated water which poses threat to their lives due to water-borne diseases.

 

We have been moving from pillar to post to get this genuine demand redressed but every time our pleas fell to deaf ears, a teacher posted at the school said.

 

They have sought immediate intervention of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Imam Din and concerned Executive Engineer Jal Shakhti department, Handwara in this regard so that their grievance is redressed at the earliest.(KNS)
