Mercury may touch minus 7 in Srinagar, other Kashmir parts in coming days: Weatherman

Srinagar, Dec 31 (KNS): The Meteorological department Kashmir on Saturday predicted dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir till January 07 and stated that cold wave conditions will intensify in the coming days.


Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), in charge director Mukhtiar Ahmad said the mercury may touch minus 7 degree Celsius in the Kashmir plains including Srinagar and minus 9 in the hilly areas in coming days.

He said after a brief spell of light rain and snow, the weather will be mostly dry during the first week of January but the cold wave is going to intensify.

He added in hilly areas like Gulmarg and Pahalgam, the mercury may touch minus 9. 

He said the sky will be clear during day time and the sun will be visible, while the temperature during day is going to increase to 11 degrees.

"Some Western disturbances are approaching and will be reaching here after January 7 and there are chances of rain and snow after January 7, while a clear picture will emerge within a few days,” he said. (KNS)
