Srinagar, Aug 27 (KNS): Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti presently in Delhi Saturday exhorted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to open channels for dialogue with the separatists but advised Pakistan to respond to initiatives of India for resumption of bilateral dialogue.
After a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, Mehbooba said the Kashmiri youth attacking army camps and police stations are provoked by Pakistan and separatist leaders.
She appealed to the separatists for peace, saying they “will have to help us save the lives” of the youth, who have been fighting pitched street battles with the forces.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
She said “I want to tell Pakistan, if it has any sympathy for Kashmiris, it shouldn’t provoke them to attack police stations – and save youth from being killed,” the chief minister said.
After Saturday’s meeting, Mehbooba said she was happy that the central government was reaching out to all stakeholders to restore peace in the troubled state. “I have high hopes from the Prime Minister.”
The meeting with Modi came just two days after home minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Srinagar during which he met with Mufti, among others. (KNS)
