Srinagar, May 3 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has sharply criticised senior National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah for his recent statement allegedly implicating Kashmiris in the Pahalgam terror attack.

In a post on X, Mufti called the remarks “deeply disturbing and regrettable,” warning they risk fuelling divisive narratives and increasing hostility against Kashmiris and Muslims across the country.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mehbooba Mufti expressed grave concern over the fallout of Abdullah’s comments, stating, “Farooq sahab’s statement implicating Kashmiris in the Pahalgam terror attack is deeply disturbing & regrettable.” She emphasised that, as a senior leader and a Kashmiri, Abdullah’s words carry weight and could inadvertently aid media channels in furthering harmful stereotypes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“This isn’t only misleading but fatal at a time when students & traders from J&K are already facing heightened vulnerability & attacks,” Mufti cautioned, referring to growing incidents of harassment and targeting of Kashmiris in different parts of India.

Invoking the example of dignity and restraint, she said, “We should draw inspiration from Himanshi Narwal who, despite the martyrdom of her husband, urged Indians not to blame and target Kashmiris or Muslims.” Mufti praised Narwal’s appeal for national unity and compassion, underscoring the need for political leaders to follow suit.(KNS)
