Mehbooba Mufti calls for collective resistance against disempowerment

Srinagar December 05 (KNS):  The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief, Mehbooba Mufti, addressed a worker's convention in the Chanapora Constituency of Srinagar, where she passionately emphasized the urgent need for collective action against the increasing onslaught on the rights and dignity of the people.

In her address, Mufti highlighted the prevailing oppression and humiliation faced by the Kashmiri society at the hands of BJP administration on a daily basis. She expressed concern over the unjust suspicion cast upon the community and the denial of basic necessities such as electricity and avenues of employment. Moreover, she underscored the larger issue of attaining political and constitutional rights, emphasizing that these fundamental rights are often portrayed as a distant mirage.

"It is imperative that we rise collectively against oppression and humiliation that is being perpetrated against us. The Kashmiri society as a whole is not only being seen with uncalled-for suspicion but humiliated on a daily basis," stated Mufti.

Addressing the hardships faced by the community, she remarked, "We are being denied the basic needs like electricity and avenues of employment as the larger question of attaining political and constitutional rights is made out to be a mirage.”

Mufti made it clear that her purpose in addressing the convention was not to seek votes but to rally support and solidarity in the ongoing struggle for the dignity and rights of the Kashmiri people. She urged the attendees to join hands in the fight against the prevailing injustices.

Speaking on the occasion, party senior leader and former parliamentarian Dr Mehboob Beg lashed out on the proxies of BJP who are siding with the oppressor against their own suppressed Kashmiri’s.

“It is ironic to see those who enjoyed power during the last PDP Government criticise the same Party out of power. Those who profess speaking truth to people should first account for this this big lie that is now inherent to their existence,” Dr Beg said.

Addressing the convention party’s senior leader and former Minister Dr G N Lone Hanjura asserted that in these troubled times, it is imperative to strengthen PDP given that it is the only party fearlessly raining voice against the suppression faced by the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

“We have a history of standing by our people and delivering on what we say. Mufti Sahab’s Tenure as the Chief Minister of J&K is a testament. And in these difficult times when PDP has taken upon itself to represent the sentiments of our people fearlessly, it becomes incumbent upon all of us to strengthen this party and its voice,” Hanjura said.
Party youth president Waheed ur Rehman Parra also spoke to the occasion.
