Rajouri, August 29(KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has expressed serious concern over the prevailing situation at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), terming it a complete deviation from its original vision.
In a statement issued, Mufti said that the university, which was conceptualized as a centre of learning under the leadership of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and brought into existence through the efforts of Chowdhary Masood, is now facing deep administrative and institutional challenges.
Highlighting the status of faculty and staff at the university, she said that nearly 80 percent of the posts are vacant, there is no permanent faculty, and infrastructure is inadequate.
She further alleged that the university is currently being run by contractual staff, who are working under difficult conditions without long-term security or institutional support.
Mufti pointed out that this condition has affected both teaching and research, leaving students without academic direction and continuity.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
She said that the lack of decision-making from the university’s administration has added to the ongoing issues, stating that the Vice Chancellor has not taken any effective step to address or reverse the situation.
Calling for immediate intervention, she stated that Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University requires urgent attention from the government and higher education authorities.
She urged that steps must be taken to fill faculty posts, provide infrastructure, and ensure the university functions in line with its founding goals.
Mufti reiterated that the institution was meant to empower the youth of the region and it must be restored to serve that purpose. She appealed to all concerned authorities to treat the matter with priority and work towards making the university functional and accountable.(KNS).
