Mehbooba, Azad led parties didn't file petitions to challenge Article 370 abrogation, mislead masses, their claims untrue: Abdul Majeed Larmi

Srinagar, Aug 03 (KNS): National Conference senior leader Abdul Majeed Larmi on Thursday criticized PDP and DPAP led by Mehbooba Mufti and Ghulam Nabi Azad respectively for misleading common masses over fake claims of filing petitions against Article 370 abrogation in the Supreme Court.

Larmi in an exclusive talk to KNS said PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and DPAP's Ghulam Nabi Azad are making people fools while claiming their parties have filed pleas against Article 370 abrogation. He said had been such a situation the leaders would have in New Delhi right now to keep watch on the proceedings of the case instead of giving pressers in Srinagar.

He said the people of J&K, India and outside world is well aware about the stand of National Conference on Article 370 and 35(A). "NC has fought in past for the rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir and will continue to do so for its own people," Larmi said.

"We are hopeful Supreme Court will deliver justice on Article 370 and undo the decision taken on August 05, 2019. Our leadership is right now in New Delhi which vindicates our commitment towards aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir. But unfortunately few politicians including Mehbooba Mufti and Ghulam Nabi Azad are befooling masses that they have filed pleas against abrogation of Article 370, which however is untrue," he added.

He also added NC's Mohammad Akbar Lone's petition was the first one which was taken up by Supreme Court's five-member bench yesterday. "Several politicians unfortunately are playing with the emotions of people of J&K which is worst from their part even at this juncture," he added.

He said National Conference had always talked under the ambit of Indian Constitution whatever the circumstances J&K passed through. "Our founder Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah decided to remain with India but under certain conditions. We are hopeful Supreme Court will undo the decision taken on August 05, 2019 and restore the faith of people of J&K on country," he also added.

Notably a war of words have been started between the constituents of PAGD - NC and PDP since Mehbooba Mufti led PDP held its party's foundation day last month. In south Kashmir's Pulwama, PDPs youth leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra alleged NC for rigging 1989 polls,  creating government malatia (Ikhwan) and bringing POTA like harsh laws in J&K to supress emotions and aspirations of people.
