SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 09 (KNS): In a significant stride towards fostering awareness and knowledge in the horticulture sector, Director Horticulture Kashmir, G. R. Mir, took charge as the Chief Guest at a mega awareness programme held at Dak Bungalow, Sopore.


The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders, contributing to the success of the initiative.

Distinguished attendees included Muzaffar Ahmad, a prominent DDC member, and Fayaz Ahmad Malik, President of the Fruit Growers’ Association in Sopore. The Chief Horticulture Officer of Baramulla, District Horticulture Officer, and several other key officers from the department were also present, demonstrating a collaborative effort to promote horticultural awareness.

Adding a community touch to the event, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) actively participated, further strengthening the connection between the department and the local populace. Orchardists, showing immense interest, formed a crucial part of the audience, contributing to the success of the awareness camp.

The mega awareness programme aimed at educating participants about various Union Territory and centrally sponsored schemes, including HADP (Horticulture Action Development Programme), High-Density Plantation Scheme, and MIDH (Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture).

Director Horticulture, in his address to the gathering, highlighted the department's vision and initiatives, emphasizing the pivotal role of horticulture in the region's development.

The event also featured technical guidance sessions by experts from the department, enriching participants with valuable insights into the schemes and practices.

The success of the mega awareness programme underscores the commitment of the Horticulture Department to empower stakeholders and promote sustainable horticultural practices.
