Pitches for comprehensive health care policy

Srinagar, Mar 17 (KNS): Doctors Association Kashmir has welcomed the recent initiatives taken by Governor N N Vohra by bringing in reforms in Medical Education Gazzetted Services at par with MCI Guidelines and have demanded similar measures for doctors working in rural health services.
DAK faction headed by Dr GM Mir in a statement to KNS said that such steps are not only beneficial to the concerned doctors but will go in a long way to improve the teaching standards of our medical institutions.
Caderisation of consultants and medical officers has never been done till date inspite of doctors pleading for the same over the years. A consultant or a medical officer in health services retires with same designation as they enter the department, the statement said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
It said that there are no promotional, training opportunities for these doctors which invariably leads to doctors showing lesser interest in joining the rural health services, thus this becomes major reason for brain drain.
DAK has also welcomed the detachment of doctors from various places where they have been illegally posted for years using their political clout.
The association urged the authorities that there is a need for comprehensive health care policy which should include transfer policy, training policy and drug policy and representatives of doctors should be taken on board in it. (KNS)
