Medical Department Bandipora organised World TB Day

Bandipora 24 March (KNS)Each year, we commemorate World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.

 
The programme was inaugurated by Dr Owais Ahmad (IAS) Deputy Commissioner Bandipora in the conference hall of Deputy commisioners office Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr Bashir Ahmad Khan Block Medical Officer Dr.Masarat Iqbal Wani,Mr Faisal Ali Dar is an Indian sports enthusiast, and first person to receive the Padma Shri Award in sports from Bandipora Kashmir.
 
Dr.Owais in his address spoke on the importance of World TB Day, causes of TB, Management (DOTS) and prevention of TB.
 
Dr Bashir Ahmad CMO Bandipora sensitized the group saying that health is every individual’s responsibility and also highlighted the other programmes conducted by District administration in a view to create awareness on the disease.
 
Dr Masarat Iqbal BMO Bandipora expressed happiness in organizing and coordinating such awareness programmes. Dr.Ab Majid senior Physician consultant talked about various signs symptoms and Treatment
 
A play was conducted on signs and symptoms, management and prevention of TB, by students with the help of audio visual aids highlighting the causes, symptoms, management and prevention. Mr Mehraj din, member of organising committe welcomed proposed vote of thanks on the awareness program The fight against TB needs to be made into a 'people’s movement”.
 
An effective communication strategy is needed which would focus on reaching the maximum population;complement with preventive,diagnostic & curative aspects of TB management also focus on community ownership & mobilization 
 
Dr.Masarat Iqbal BMO Bandipora added.Health care workers Asha's along with Medical officers of block Bandipora Hwc's,District Tuberculosis cell unit working in the field of TB care & manegement urged for a joint collaborative effortswhere all the partners could join hands & forces together in elimination of Tuberculosis 
 
Dr.Masarat lended the support of all the partners critical in eradicating the Tuberculosis,at the same time we are relentlessly fighting the pandemic from last last two years But even at a time when COVID is taking prioritised attention, we should not lose the sight of the goal to eliminate TB by 2025 added Dr Masarat BMO Bandipora.
 
Later on a massive public awareness rally in which students,Doctors paramedical staff of Bandipora & Asha workers was flagged off from deputy commissioners office by Dr Owais Ahmad,B.A Khan chief medical officer and Block Medical Officer Dr Masarat Iqbal wani raisings slogans passing through markets public places culminated in the lawns of District Hospital Bandipora where Bmo Bandipora paid Vote of thanks to the all Participants who made this awareness program successful.(KNS)
