Srinagar, May 28 (KNS): Participating in the discussion on Governor’s address, senior CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said that we were expecting a direction for future and mention of achievements of the alliance government, unfortunately both are missing. He said that the Governor’s address can be described as a document of vogue commitments and hollow promises.
Stating that J&K is facing a serious challenge of rising discontent among people and unrest and hopelessness is deepening among the younger generations, the CPI(M) leader said that only response from government both at centre and state is more and more relying on security forces. He said that the youth who live in condition of humiliation, degradation, repression and want to live a dignified life are being pushed to extremism.
“The world experience demonstrates that when you don’t respond to the emerging situation positively and instead hit vulnerable sections with disproportionate force, the alienation deepens. The time has come when we have to understand the roots of this emerging discontentment.”
The CPI (M) leader observed that there are legitimate grievances which have to be addressed through meaningful political initiatives but unfortunately the dispensation at Delhi and Srinagar is responding to the situation reluctantly.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThere is a relentless pursuit of communal polarization across the country and in our state and hate campaigns aimed at division of people on communal lines continues unabated. Far from any action PM Modi has refused to give any assurance in the Parliament to punish those involved in such hate campaigns, which has added to the disillusionment of the youth of our state, he remarked.
The alarming rise in unemployment with no concrete policy is matter of serious concern. The regularization of youth engaged in various departments as daily wagers, consolidated workers, casual/seasonal, need based laborers, ITI trained and contingency paid workers who are meagerly paid and even not paid for months together has resulted in dissatisfaction among these poor workers.
The CPI(M) legislator had moved various amendments to the Governor’s address to include revocation of AFSPA, AFSPA, removal of bunkers from civilian areas ,return of power projects, unfortunate civilian killings in Handwara and measures to deal with alarming unemployment in the State and providing of providing of 35 kg of ration @Rs.2/- per kg per month for each family despite the fact that the resolution in this regard was passed unanimously in the House in 2014 Autumn Session.
