Jammu, Feb 18 (KNS): A meeting to review functioning of Biomedical Equipment Maintenance & Management Programme in J&K was held under the Chairmanship of Bhupinder Kumar MD, NHM.
A statement issued to KNs said the programme was launched on 18th November-2019 in PPP mode to achieve the uptime of equipment (95%) in District Hospitals, (90%) in Community Health Centers (CHCs) & (80%) in Primary Health Centers. This programme includes provision of Toll Free Number for equipment fault registration, preventive and corrective maintenance, and supply of spares, providing for trained engineering human resource and training of users on equipment, the comprehensive equipment maintenance programme is ideal solution when correctly operationalised.
“MD,NHM,J&K directed all Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendants, Block Medical Officers to ensure that all the Biomedical Equipment in all Health Institutions is mapped and tagged. MD,NHM,J&K was informed by COO of Mediciti Health Care Services, Ltd that in 528 Health Institutions of J&K ,17587 Medical Equipments have been mapped and 4866 were found historically dysfunctional during mapping out of which 1246 number of equipments have been repaired while the remaining are in the process of repairing.

MD, NHM,J&K directed the representatives of Mediciti Health Care Services, Ltd to ensure that all the pending equipment is repaired at the earliest so that Public Health Care of the UT does not suffer. It is pertinent to mention here that Government of India has supported this programme under National Health Mission with the aim to improve assured quality diagnostics services in Public Health Facilities which will lead to reduction in out of pocket expenditure of the patients.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sameer Mattoo Director, Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Arun Sharma, Director Family Welfare, J&K, Dr.Sunil Sharma, AD Schemes, Jammu, Dr. Harjeet Rai, Divisional Nodal Officer, NHM, all Chief Medical Officers of both the Divisions. Also present in the meeting were Officers from National Health Mission, J&K, and representatives of Mediciti Health Care Services, India, Ltd.(KNS)
