MD KPDCL tours Srinagar, Budgam to review power restoration

Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): Amid continued snowfall in the valley, KPDCL is focusing on quick restoration of power supply in all the Districts of Valley. To Supervise / review restoration process of power supply, MD KPDCL Dr Basharat Qayoom, IAS, toured areas of Srinagar, after monitoring 33KV Exhibition line that had come under massive damage in the morning, restoration works of Electric Division 2 Srinagar were also overseen at Rawalpora. 

There after MD KPDCL visited District Budgam that has been more affected amongst central districts, In District Budgam MD visited various restoration sites and receiving stations of Sheikhpora Budgam, Ichgam, Krimshair, Khansahab, Chadoora and other areas.

Due to continued overnight snowfall across valley load supplied to valley in the morning had reduced to 638 MW due to 33kv and 11kv line faults, restoration teams of KPDCL were flung into action since early morning and despite continued snowfall the restoration helped consistent increase in load and in evening load supplied has touched 1317 MW, with all 33 KV lines functional. Work Restoration of remaining feeders is ongoing. 

With a thaw in weather as predicted by IMD KPDCL is expecting complete restoration by tomorrow.

While on visit MD emphasised quick restoration of feeders and DT outages to reduce consumer discomfort. MD KPDCL laid specific emphasis on safety of field staff and directed adherence to SOPs and use of safety gear by restoration teams. 

MD KPDCL was accompanied by Chief Engineer Distribution and Executive Engineers of the area. (KNS)
