Srinagar July 30 (KNS): Mayor Srinagar, Junaid Azim Mattu,  on Saturday  extensively  toured Shia specific areas to review preparation and arrangements  of upcoming Muharram-ul-haram..

He was accompanied by  concerned Corporator Mr Tanveer Pathan  all senior Officers of Corporation including Joint Commissioners' S.E Drainage , Executive Engineers from left River works, right River works, Executive Engineer Electric wing, Executive Engineer PHE/ water works,  Executive Engineer City Roads R&B, Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Chief Anti Encroachment Officer,  Sanitation Officers, Ward Officers and other officials.

Mayor visited Zadibal Imambargah, Mir Shamas Iraqi Shrine at Zadibal to review snd take stock of various arrangements being put in place and    providing of services including the functilnality of street lights, adequate water supply,   desilting of blocked drains with immediate cleaning of muck from the routes where from Mohharam processions will be taken out, upgraded sanitaion  and other services too.

Mayor also reviewed the developmental work at Shrine and passed on directions for its speedy work. 

He on the occasion reviewed the functionality of Community Toilet Compound at site.

While visiting lane to lane in Zadibal area, Mattu passed on directions to cover the drains with proper trash guards where ever it is required for smooth processions to take place.

He has passed on directions that all open drains within the radius of one kilometer of  Shrine and Imambargah at Zadibal  including lane towards Masjid- E- Ali upto Kathi Maidan shall  be covered .

Also the directions were passed to Exn City Roads to fill the depressions / potholes with patch work at i several dentified places.

He also visited Gasiyar  and all the lanes and Mohhalas of Alamgari Bazaar where Mr Mattu passed on several directions with regard to drainage and upgradation  of transformers to ensure safety of the people in Mohharam processions.

The PDD was directed to ensure that no low lying LT wires are hanging anywhere and transformers are to be upgraded in such a way from all procession routes so that it does not affect the processions.

Mayor pointed out two locations one on link road  of  Alamgari Bazar and other near Primary Health Centre shalbagh and directed the up gradation of transformers for safety of the mourners.

He also reviewed the Health care facilities by Health department as a part of Mohharam arrangements.

The reconstruction of surface drain near Primary Health Centre has also been directed by Mayor.

At Baba Mazar graveyard in Alamgari Bazar directions were passed on for conducting of an extensive grass cutting and special sanitation drive.

He also visited Imambargah Daangar Mohhala at Zadibal where several directions were passed including repairing of wall premises of Imambargah, construction of its gate and tile works within the premises.

Directions were also passed with regard to repairing of street lights with new installation in the said Mohhala.

Mayor while visiting Gazi Duri and Doonipora area  passed on directions for installation of four new lights at the open space behind a  Public school where the space is being used for proper social gatherings.

Mayor has passed on directions to the concerned to resolve several Drainage issues promptly one at main market Alamgaribazaar and two locations at Madinsaahib area including Bage- Ali - Mardan area.

He also visited Imam Khumaeni Hall at Sheribat and reviewed its functionality.

He also visited   BotahKadal, Amda Kadal, Imambargah Gulshanabad and Imambargah at Madin Sahib where he met several delegations and inhabitants of the areas.

He gave them a patient hearing amd ensured them that all their demands  and requirements  for smooth and successful Mohharam days will be taken care of.

Later he visited   Imambargah Baghwanpora and the entire area of Bagwanpora to review the Mohharam arrangements.

At the end of the tour Mayor has passed on directions to maintain coordination and cooperation between all the liason officers representing different wings for peaceful and successful Mohharam to take place. (KNS)
