Srinagar, Oct 16 (KNS): Mawer Youth Society, a social activist group, today distributed food kits among the needy in the area on World Food Day. 

The Society organised World Food Day and distributed number of food packets among needy people at their doors. 

"We have a motive to fight collectively  against hardships faced by poor and needy people to uplift the society," said Shabir Ahmad, Chairman of the Society. 

"We request the various sections of society to see around and help each other. Collective efforts can minimise the hardships of poor," he said.

Notably, World Food Day is an international day celebrated every year worldwide on 16 October to commemorate the date of the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. (KNS)
