Mawer villages decry shortage of water supply

 

Handwara, 11 june (KNS): Residents of various villages of Mawer area said in times of Covid-19 Pandemic they are with portable drinking water from last several weeks and the concerned department is nowhere. 

 According to reports, the villages includes Nowgam,Bagdaji, Reshwari, Puthwari are without drinking water. 

Residents informed Kashmir News Service that problem has aggravated after retirement of PHE employee last month who was overlooking after the water supply. They demanded his replacement at earliest.

 The residents of these areas said they are being forced to fetch the water from nearby streams which pose them the threat to get infected with waterborne disease.

 Sarpanch Nowgam "A" Dr Nayeem u Rehman,and Sarpanch Nowgam "B" Nazir Ahmad said that from the last several weeks we are without drinking water and despite informed several times to the Jal Shakti department they are paying no heed to our pleas.

 The residents of these areas have urged the higher officials of the Jal Shakti department to restore the drinking water facility to these areas.
