Srinagar Feb 23 (KNS): Residents of  Gamandar Mohalla  village of Nowgam  Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday complained that the area is with the potable drinking water from last three months and the concern department is paying no heed.
 
The aggrieved resident said that  they are without drinking water from November last year and they have informed the authorities several times that the area is without drinking water but nothing has been done to restore the water supply in the area the resident said.
 
 They said that they are being forced to fetch the contaminated water,  which can cause the water borne diseases in the area.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
They said that if the new water pipes in the area was installed in  the area but most of the pipes have broken down leading residents to suffer.
 
They said that whenever they are visiting the concern office for the same they are getting assurances from the officials only but no measures has been taken to restore the potable drinking in the area.
 
They have appealed the authorities to restore the water supply in the area at the earliest.
 
However an official  of PHE Division  Handwara told KNS that the work in the said village has been started.
