Srinagar, Feb 26 (KNS): Master Ghulam Muhammad Wani of Sonawar, popularly known as Master Wani, passed away Thursday morning. He was 80.
Widely respected for his soft nature and good qualities, he served the J&K Education Department as a teacher for a long time. He was popular among his students, many of whom reached very high positions in the State bureaucracy. He was a religious minded person and worked for the propagation of Islam, besides being in the company of prominent religious personalities of the time including Syed Mirak Shah Kashani. Survived by two sons and two daughters, Masterji was unwell for a brief period. Family sources said that the end came in the morning after the fajr prayers. He was laid to rest in the graveyard at Gupkar, Sonawar in the foot of the Takht-e-Sulaiman hill where congregational fateha will be held on Sunday at 10.30 A.M. Later, a condolence meeting will be held at his residence at Iqbal Colony, Sonawar.
A large number of people visited the residence of late Master Wani to condole his demise and express sympathies with the bereaved family. (KNS)
