Srinagar, Aug 16 (KNS): Police Monday evening at around 11.00 P.M detained Imam of a Masjid and release him Tuesday afternoon in north Kashmir's Handwara area.
The members of Masjid Commitee Jamia Qadeem, Handwara told KNS that a police party raided the house of Manzoor Ahmad Kirmani, Imam of a Masjid, and arrested him.
They said when they asked the police on what grounds they are arresting Imam Sahab, the police said that Kirmani during his Friday congregation sermon delivered anti-India lecture.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"He is a very noble soul and we don't know why are they harassing him," they said.
SHO Handwara when contacted told KNS “He had spoken objectionably during Friday sermon last Friday and was called to the police station. He was released today (Tuesday) in the afternoon. (KNS)
