Srinagar, Sept 25 (KNS) : The mascot for the 3rd Junior Asian Pencak Silat Championship was officially unveiled today in Srinagar, setting the stage for one of Asia’s most exciting martial arts events. The championship will be held from September 25 to 30, 2025, bringing together young athletes from across 11 countries.
The unveiling ceremony was presided over by Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, who also released the trophies for the upcoming tournament. Chief Sports Officer, Anissa Nabi, Divisional Sports Officer, Javid Ur Rehman, Chief Coach , Irfan Aziz, and Mohammad Iqbal were also present on the occasion.
The grand inauguration ceremony of the championship will take place tomorrow, September 26, at Sher I Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar. The opening ceremony shall be graced by Chief Minister of J&K, Shri Omar Abdullah, Union Minister of Sports, Shri Satish Sharma, along with other distinguished dignitaries.
Srinagar is set to turn into Asia’s sports hub as the six-day event brings together 11 countries, 12 teams, and over 300 athletes and officials.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelTeams from India (A and B), Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Nepal, and Kazakhstan will be competing for top honors.
The championship is being organized with the support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Indian Pencak Silat Federation (PFA), and the Asian Pencak Silat Federation.
Adding to the excitement, athletes and coaches from across the participating nations have already arrived in Srinagar. They expressed their enthusiasm about the championship, highlighting that
such events not only give athletes a platform to showcase their skills but also foster cultural exchange.
Officials emphasized that the championship will not only boost sports but also significantly promote tourism in Jammu & Kashmir, as Srinagar welcomes international participants and visitors with great warmth.
The city is fully geared up to host the event, with preparations in full swing to ensure a successful and memorable championship.(KNS)
