Srinagar, Apr 25 (KNS): The residents of Mandir Bagh Monday staged protest against Tehsildar South for allegedly failing to sign the documents to receive flood assistance from the government.
Inhabitants of Mandir Bagh and assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave and were chanting slogans like ‘we want justice’. The residents were demanding flood assistance from the government.
The residents while talking to KNS alleged that they provided the documents to get flood assistance from the government but after completing the process, they are yet to receive the amount.
Muhammad Shafi, a resident of the area said that at least 59 cases of their area are still pending. “The authorities conducting the survey almost 10 times but despite that they failed to provide the flood assistance to us,” he said.
He said that they approached several ties to the concerned officials in this regard.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHowever, nothing has been done in this regard.
Shafi told KNS that earlier the documents according to the officials went missing from the department and we provided the documents second time to get flood assistance announced by the government. “Six months passed since we provided the documents again but we are yet to get the amount,” he lamented.
He said that they are yet to repair their houses since the 2014 deluge hit Kashmir. “We are being pushed to the walls due to the official apathy,” he said.
The residents later appealed higher ups to look into the matter and redress their genuine demands at earliest.
Tehsildar South, Nuzhat told KNS that she don’t have any knowledge about the cases. “I will personally look into the issue on Tuesday morning and will redress the problem of affected families,” she said. (KNS)
