Man gets 6 months jail in cheque bounce case in Uri

Srinagar, May 2 (KNS): A local court in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district sentenced a man to 6 months simple imprisonment in a cheque bounce case. 

An official said that Judicial Magistrate Ist Class Uri Altaf Hussain Khan sentenced the man to 6 months simple imprisonment in a cheque ‌bounce case and also imposed a penalty of Rs 17,20,000. 

The accuse has identified as Ghulam Nabi Shah s/o Yousuf Shah of Nambla Uri.

He was sentenced to 6 months after he was found guilty for the commission of offense under section 138 of the Negotiable Instrument Act.

“A fine of Rs 17,20,000, which is double the cheque amount was also imposed on him,” the official said. (KNS)
