Srinagar, Oct 05 (KNS): Army on Thursday claimed to have prevented a major strike in Akhnoor area of Jammu division by detecting an improvised explosive device (IED) and two landmines.
"Alertness and vigilance of Army personnel helped in averting the strike. On Wednesday night, the sentries observed suspicious movement close to an Army Unit Location near the Akhnoor market. A response mechanism was activated wherein the entire area was cordoned off and deliberate search operation was conducted,” said a statement issued by Defence Ministry.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The statement further reads, “During the area sanitisation process, the security forces recovered the IED and two mines. Combing operations are in progress in the area," the statement added. (KNS)
