LPG shortage in Valley, people suffer

‘Adequate stock is available’, says Zulfikar

Srinagar, Jan 24 (KNS): The frequent closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway, due to the snowfall has generated shortage of cooking gas in valley.
Consumers told KNS that they are facing tremendous hardships as the Valley is facing acute shortage of cooking gas of Indian Oil Company.
They said, “Besides unscheduled power cuts in the valley, shortage of LPG gas here has added miseries among the people. The government should take immediate steps to redress the genuine demands of people so that the people could feel a sigh of relief,”
One of the Indian oil dealers said, “There is no cooking gas available currently. With the frequent closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway due to the snowfall, the distributors failed to make cooking gas available for the consumers,” distributors said.
“We have not received fresh supply from past couple of days. The supply was very less in this month due to the snowfall in the Valley. The shortage has created immense hardships to the consumers,” the distributors said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that Indian Oil plant is not providing adequate supply to them. ‘The company authorities said that they have already sent supply to the Valley but due to closure of highway, the trucks are stranded on the way,” the distributors said.
“It is unfortunate that the company is misleading the administration over the shortage of cooking gas. The authorities must wake up from the deep slumber and should take appropriate decision in this regard,” he said, adding that in case government failed to take action, there are possibilities that HP gas which is currently available can also get affected.
Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD), Zulfikar Choudhary told KNS that currently there is no shortage of gas in the Valley. “We are assuring adequate supply of LPG in the Valley. More than 150 stranded trucks loaded with LPG have been sent to valley,” he said. (KNS)
