Loosely Hanging Power wires Pose danger to Kulgam Villagers

Srinagar, Nov 1 (KNS): Residents of Baswatoo village of Damhal Hanjipora in southern Kashmir's Kulgam district Tuesday are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) after it set up a transformer equal to ground level in the area which poses a threat to local population.

The locals of the area alleged concerned department of negligence and said that they live under threat all the time because of this transformer while the Power Development Department (PDD), always ignored their genuine demand to dislocate it to few meters away.

"We repeatedly knock the doors of concerned department but neither the Transformer was dislocated nor the PDD authorities pay any attention to our requests. If any incident happens here, the department will be responsible for it," the locals alleged.

"Even the infrastructure of this transformer is not well. You can see for yourself that the wire has been laid on the trees instead of poles," said a local. "Loosely Hanging power wires pose danger to residents particularly students," he added.

Meanwhile the residents appealed Deputy Commissioner(DC) Kulgam to intervene and redress their grievance of shifting the transformer into another place-(KNS)
