Sopore, Oct 01 (KNS): A government school building is lying in shambles in Sopore sub-division of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district while authorities have turned a blind eye towards the plight of the students.

As per details available with Kashmir News Service (KNS) the school was established in 2007 at Amberpora village in Tarzoo area of Sopore.

Locals said that the building has been illegally occupied by some vested interests and they have been storing wood, charcoal, and cow dung in the school building for the last many years.

They said they concerned chief education officer Baramulla and Zonal Education Officer have failed to handover this school building to the school management.

“We took up this matter number of times with the concerned department but the concerned department has failed to take any action,” said local Sarpanch of the area.

When contacted ZEO Sopore said that a team has been constituted by the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to look into the matter.

“Further, tender has also been issued for the fencing of this school,” he added. (KNS)
