CEO Kupwara, Dept. of Geology & Mining orders separate probes

Langate, Nov 05 (KNS): After news about illegal excavation of soil from the premises of Government Middle School Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara went viral on social media platforms, the locals of the area on Saturday alleged Municipal Chairman, Shahnawaz Abdullah for involved in illegal soil extraction.

The locals said that soil cutting was done without seeking NOCs from concerned department which amplifies grave violation of norms. “The NOC was not sought from Revenue, I&FC, PDD, Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil Conservation, Forest and importantly Geology & Mining Department which vindicates the person involved in the scam considers himself above the law”, the locals said.

They alleged the Municipal Chairman, Langate Shahnawaz Abdullah is responsible for plundering resources of Government in broad daylight.

Pertinently the school authorities too have been kept at bay by the MC Chairman as the Head Master of the school was neither contacted nor informed about the activity.

The locals questioned that MC Chairman doesn’t have authority to issue GRs in such matters

Meanwhile the authorities have taken cognizance of the matter and ordered inquiry into the matter at the earliest.

“A viral news is being circulated on social media that soil is being excavated from the school premises without any permission, in zone Langate. In this context, the committee comprising of the Deputy Chief Education Officer (Hq Handwara) and Principal BHSS Langate is hereby constituted to conduct an in-depth enquiry into the instant matter”, an order issued by CEO Kupwara reads.

The Committee has been directed to visit the spot and take necessary immediate appropriate action, besides furnishing of detailed report to this office within 02 days positively.
