Srinagar, Oct 14 (KNS): As the mysterious braid chopping incidents continued in Kashmir, the locals as well the opposition Congress on Saturday staged protest against the government’s failure over tracing the culprits behind these incidents.
The braid chopping incidents were today reported in Boniyar area of Uri, in Sheeri area of Baramulla and Baderkoot area of Tangmarg.
According to the KNS correspondent, Naddem Khawaja, the braid of a woman was chopped off in Boniyar area today. “The locals tried to catch the braid chopper,” witnesses said, adding that the forces used tear smoke shells to disperse the locals while they were chasing the braid chopper.
Seven civilians were also injured after force used pellets against the locals, witnesses said.
Another braid chopping incident was reported from Sheeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. “The hair of a woman was chopped off in the area,” the KNS correspondent, Manzooor Sheeri while quoting a senior Police official said.
According to the KNS correspondent, Mushtaq Ahmad, a fresh incident of braid chopping was also reported in Baderkoot area of Tangmarg today.
The locals following the incident took to streets and protested against such incidents and demanded authorities to nab the culprits.
Meanwhile, the locals at Nowpora area of Srinagar also staged protest against the growing incidents of braid chopping.
The protesting locals chanted slogans against the administration and Police. They said that the state administration has utterly failed to provide relief to the people over regarding the mysterious braid chopping incidents.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) activists and leaders also staged a protest against the mysterious braid chopping incidents and asked the PDP-BJP coalition government to resign for failing to ensure the safety and security of the womenfolk.
The congress leaders chanted slogans against the current coalition government and demanded immediate end to the braid chopping incidents in Kashmir.
Congress leader, Shameema as per the KNS correspondent said that the administration has failed to nab the culprits behind these ‘mischievous acts’.
She said that the current regime has no right to rule the people, who are feeling insecure even inside their homes. “The government must act against the braid choppers or should resign from the chair,” she said.
Notably, over 100 braid chopping incidents were reported in Kashmir so far while the government has said that the steps have been taken to nab the culprits behind these acts.
Police has also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the braid chopping incidents while it also announced a reward of Rs six lakhs for giving credible information about the braid chopper.
The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had also termed such incidents as an attempt to undermine the women dignity on the state and said that such attempts are aimed to create mass hysteria. (KNS)
