Srinagar July 25 (KNS): Three millitants including a Local were killed in an encounter between millitants ans security forces in North kashmir's Bandipora District, official said.

An official told Kashmir News Service that three millitants including a local identified as Shakir Altaf Bhat of Plan Bandipora were Killed in an encounter in Sumlar Shokbaba-Sumlar forests of Bandipora.

He also said that the bodies of two millitants were retrieved on Saturday and body of third millitant was recovered on Sunday.

Official also said that the three millitants were killed on the first day of encounter however searches were going on second day of encounter. 

The bodies of these three were buried at Rajwara Handwara and the body of a local millitant Shakir was buried in presence of his family, official said.

Shakir has crossed Line of Control through Attari-Wagah Border in 2018, official said adding that they are ascertaining facts whether there was any recent infiltration.

"All the three millitants were killed on the first day of encounter however the searches were going on 2nd consecutive day to check if there is presence of more millitants",he added.

The official said that the arms and ammunition including rifles, magazines, pouches etc and incriminating material was recovered from the site of encounter

Earlier, security forces launched a search operation based on credible inputs about the presence of militants in Sumlar woods 

During the searches, militants fired on the search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter.(KNS)
