Anantnag, Feb 19 (KNS) ; The Lidder Forest Division on Thursday organised a capacity building and awareness programme on forest fire fighting for its personnel and other stakeholders to strengthen the response mechanism during emergencies.
The programme aimed to equip frontline staff, including Rangers and Forest Guards, with modern techniques to tackle forest fires. Officials highlighted the need for timely intervention and coordinated action between departments to prevent the loss of forest wealth.
Conservator of Forests (South) Syed Nadeem, who was the chief guest, appreciated the efforts of forest employees in controlling fires in difficult terrain and stressed the need for continuous training.

DFO Lidder Syed Humayun Qadri urged field staff to remain vigilant during the fire-prone season. DFO South Kashmir Wildlife Sajad Ahamed Khan stressed protecting wildlife habitats from forest fires.
Incharge Station Bijbehara from the Fire and Emergency Services, Mohammed Yousuf, shared insights on fire suppression techniques. The programme concluded with a commitment from stakeholders to work collectively for the protection of forest resources in South Kashmir. (KNS)
